Glacial Energy is an Electric Supplier operating in the New England states of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts providing reliable energy coupled with experienced customer services at the best price.

New England Retail Electricity Market

Before deregulation, businesses, of all sizes, received every aspect of their electric service from one utility company that generated the electricity, transmitted, and distributed it directly to the business. The utility also sold you and serviced your electricity account. New England's market is now open to choice allowing businesses to choose the power company that best fits their requirements of cost and benefit.

After the Blackouts in 1965 the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL) was formed to insure a safe and reliable supply of electricity. NEPOOL created a regional power grid that supplies the six state region.

In the 1997 the Federal Energy Commission (FERC) created ISO New England to restructure and regulate the new open energy markets.

What are my power supply options?

Electricity is provided to you through a three-step process: generation, transmission, and distribution. New England's market gives you the ability to choose your electricity supplier. Electricity is still delivered over the same poles and wires and is not subject to choice.

You now have the opportunity to shop for a new supplier based on your needs and preferences.
You can compare prices and enjoy greater savings and service.
You can also take advantage of unique supplier features.

Power Company

Glacial Energy is a power company. Glacial Energy buys electricity wholesale from the generator and then sell and service directly to businesses. The benefits of the deregulated market is better supply of, cleaner and more efficient power plants throughout New England. This has resulted in a more competitive market that provides lower price, alternative energy options, better and more customized customer service.
